2023 Marcom Awards

Platinum Winner

JL Wood No-Oak Chardonnay
Creativity | Photography | Product

JL Wood Winery has a simple mission, to be great stewards of the land, the wildlife, and our wines. That means doing things right rather than focusing on saving a buck here or there.

They create Chardonnays from their own single vineyard in four distinct ways: no-oak, lightly oaked, fruit forward, and reduced alcohol.

Above all, they use every technique possible to ensure their farming methods and winery operations support their sustainable certification. Their practices help reduce their carbon footprint, conserve water, protect the wildlife, and preserve the land for future generations. This is evident by the wildlife that thrive on their land which are playfully rendered as cartoons on their labels.

WineGlass Marketing Blog
Creativity | Writing | Blog Overall

Ok. You caught us. We entered ourselves, again. And won, again. It seems that they liked our blog. I mean, really liked it. To win a platinum in the competitive corporate blog category…across all industries? I mean, wow. But now that we think about it, It’s about time someone appreciated our colorful charts, combined with nuggets of sarcastic knowledge, sprinkled with questionable grammar.

We graciously accept this award, not because we need validation – oh no, our ego is already well-fed – but because it’s about time the world recognized the unparalleled art of our keyboard rants.

Gold Winner

Westwood POS
Strategic Communications | Marketing/Promotion Campaign | Promotion/Marketing Materials

Westwood has long been concerned with the pressures of commercial farming on the earth. In 2015, we vowed our wines would only come from sources that were Sustainable, Biodynamic, or Organically farmed.

Their mission was not something many in Napa were willing or able to commit to. It’s hard work, labor intensive and expensive. It paid off. They are proud to be a California Certified Organic Farmer and one of only a handful that are Demeter Certified in the USA.

Their unyielding dedication to the land, and the people we work with, has resulted in an exceptional collection that delivers authentic, expressive and textured wines, crafted by world-class winemakers, year after year.

Westwood creates wines that are approachable and enjoyable on any occasion. Wine you can feel good about. Wine with a soul.

Copalli Rum Website
Web Based | Website | Business to Consumer
Copalli Rum Website Copy
Creativity | Writing | Web Content

Copalli Rum is a company with a purpose. They are committed to their ecosystem, offering the people of Punta Gorda Belize rewarding and meaningful employment that celebrates its unique biodiversity, and renders rainforest deforestation for cultivation and unsustainable fishing unnecessary. The company supports Hillside Health Care International, an NGO which brings free health care to Southern Belize, and Claver College Extension Program, an adult education program which aims to provide quality education to citizens of Toledo who need a second chance to finish their high school education. And they are a member of their Conservation Circle, which supports and protects endangered species, threatened rainforests, and other tropical ecosystems around the world.

And they make some darn tasty rum.

Using personas and UX, we designed the site to highlight all the levels of their amazing brand story, while not losing focus on the product. With content developed for both conscious consumers and flavor explorers, we wrote all the copy and the positioning tagline “Doing Good Tastes Delicious”.

Honorable Mention

Napa Humane Social Media
Pro Bono | Pro Bono

We’re always going to give a bark out to our non-profit client Napa Humane. We are proud of the work they do and share it in the best light we know how. Two paws up!

Napa Humane’s mission is education and preparedness, leading to adequate care of our community animals. Most animals end up at the County Animal Shelter because of a lack of training, lack of understanding of needs, or health issues due to poor care or hygiene. So the programs of Napa Humane are aimed at preventing the abandonment of animals before a problem develops. The goal of social media is to educate the community about common animal issues and broadcast available resources.

JL Wood Animated Video for Online Ads
Advertising/Marketing | Online | Display Ad Video or Animated

In order to illustrate the commitment to wildlife that JL Wood has in the vineyard and on their label, we animated the fox’s journey from being pushed out of his natural habitat by human expansion into California rural areas, and finally finding a haven on the century old JL Wood ranch.
